- בָּהַק(b. h. in בֹּהַק; √בה, v. בהי) to shine with a pale light, be white, glisten. Bekh.45b בּוֹהֵק one glistening (with unsteady eyes, albino), diff. fr. לבן white-complected. Hif. הִבְהִיק 1) to shine, be bright. Y.Pes.I, beg.27b top בשעה שהיו מבהיקים when the candles burned brightly, Ib. מַבְהִיקוֹת; Gen. R. s. 31 מַבְהֶקֶת (of glistening jewels). Ib. s. 40 הבהיקה כלוכ׳ the whole land of Egypt was brightened by her (Sarahs) beauty; a. fr. 2) to brighten, make bright. Snh.100a.Part. Hof. מוּבְהָק distinguished, prominent.
